Global Public Policy Network 2024 Annual Conference: Addressing Climate Change Challenges and Innovative Solutions

The Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) is a powerhouse of collaboration and innovation in the realm of public policy. Bringing together students and researchers from eight prestigious schools of public affairs, the network aims to tackle major global issues through collective efforts and creative solutions.

One of the highlights of the GPPN calendar is the annual international conference, where students from member schools present their innovative projects on pressing public policy issues. This year, the theme focused on “policy proposals to reduce the impact of climate change on vulnerable populations and territories”, a topic of utmost importance in today’s world.

The conference saw 92 selected students from around the globe presenting their proposals to the jury comprised of deans from partner schools. The projects ranged from addressing access to resources, supporting agricultural systems, mitigating heat in urban areas, to ensuring education and food security in the face of climate change challenges.

After intense deliberations, 10 groups were selected for the final phase of the competition, where they had the opportunity to present their projects in greater depth and answer questions from the jury. Projects like ClimateEd, focusing on floating schools in flood-prone regions, and underground rainwater harvesting systems in Jakarta, demonstrated the students’ commitment to making a positive impact.
