“Join me on a journey towards a healthier, more equitable world with ecoAmerica Climate for Health!”
This news post introduces Sweta Waghela, a new Health Equity Fellow joining the ecoAmerica Climate for Health team. Sweta’s passion for addressing the intersection of climate change, public health, and social equity stems from her childhood experiences in India, where she witnessed the impact of traditional cookstoves on indoor air pollution.
Sweta’s academic journey led her to pursue a Master’s in Public Health at George Washington University, where she focused on the relationship between indoor air pollution and childhood developmental delays within the One Health framework. Her internship with the Uganda Village Project further solidified her commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations affected by environmental factors.
As a Health Equity Fellow, Sweta will collaborate with healthcare professionals, leaders, and organizations to raise awareness about the disproportionate burden faced by marginalized communities in the face of climate change and health disparities. By amplifying the voices of those most affected, she aims to drive positive change and empower communities to thrive in the face of climate challenges.
Sweta’s enthusiasm and purpose in championing a sustainable future are evident as she embarks on this collective pursuit of a healthier, more equitable, and environmentally friendly world. Through her work with ecoAmerica’s Climate for Health, she hopes to effect meaningful change and contribute to a brighter future for all.
