Inside Climate News has chosen 10 fellows who specialize in reporting on climate, environment, and justice.

“Meet the Future of Climate Journalism: Inside Climate News’ 2024 Summer Fellows”

Inside Climate News has announced the summer 2024 class of fellows who will be reporting from various locations across the country as part of a program aimed at enhancing their writing and reporting skills while deepening their expertise in climate change and related subjects. The program covers topics such as climate change and attribution science, environmental justice, renewable energy, and conservation and regulatory issues at different levels of government.

Vernon Loeb, the executive editor of Inside Climate News, expressed the importance of the fellows program in shaping the next generation of climate and environmental journalists. He highlighted the significance of training and inspiring young journalists to tackle the climate crisis and praised the energy and commitment of the fellows in confronting this pressing issue.

Since 2020, more than 60 fellows have participated in the program, and the 2024 summer class includes the following members:

– Mathilde Augustin from Columbia University, Institute for Nonprofit News fellow
– Lauren Dalban from Columbia University, ICN environmental justice fellow
– Najifa Farhat from the University of Montana, ICN environmental justice fellow
– Sarah Rebecca Hopkins from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT fellow
– Jenaye Johnson from New York University, ICN environmental justice fellow
– Bing Lin from Princeton University, American Association for the Advancement of Science fellow
– Hannah Marszalek from the University of Maryland, Dow Jones fellow
– Caroline Reinhart from Stanford University, Stanford fellow
– Alexa Robles-Gil from New York University, ICN environmental justice fellow
– Ruchi Shahagadkar from the University of California Berkeley, ICN environmental justice fellow

The fellows will contribute to Inside Climate News’ mission of providing in-depth and impactful reporting on climate and environmental issues. The program aims to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to make a difference in the field of journalism and contribute to the ongoing conversation about climate change and its implications.
